From Llandegla to Bodfari

It is moors again today. This leg takes you across the moorland, along rounded hills of Silurian shales, with fine forts which were built in the Iron Age. Perhaps most striking today are the views you will have - from Snowdon to Cheshire.

There are series of climbs to do, so this leg near the end of the whole Path is quite some test. You´ll never exceed a height of 1,800 feet (550 metres) but there are 5 steep climbs and descents waiting for you. Since this is also one of the longest sections (17.5 miles or 28 km) the guide provides suggestions to break down the stretch by descending into one of the towns along the Path.

However, this is one of the finest sections of all Offa´s Dyke Path. The way leads for a long time over the top of Clwydian Range with striking views to either side of the ridge. An additional proposal, which will be especially interesting if you decide to break down the stretch in two, is a circular walk of 8 miles (13 km) via Moel Fammau and Jubilee Tower on top which allows another great view over the landscape and another circular of 6.75 miles (11 km) via Penycloddiau.
