From Pandy to Hay-on-Wye

The walk from Pandy to Hay-on-Wye leads away from the rivers and valleys and on to the Black Mountains and to Hatterall Ridge in particular. The route follows the Welsh and English Border and alongside the eastern boundary of Brecon Beacons National Park.

This trail takes you over the highest point of the whole trail. That may sound harder than it is since today's ascents and descents are not that high and Hay Bluff allows a fantastic view north in the direction of travel. 'Fantastic view', yes, but only if it's not too wet today ... and even then it's nearly impossible to miss the way that 20 years of walkers have broken through the thin soil on top of Hatterall Ridge.

In addition to the description of the Path an 8-mile route to and from Llanthony Abbey is given in the guide as well as additional trails to Longtown and Olchon Valley Circuit and in and around Hay-on-Wye.
