From Monmouth to Pandy

Monmouth, the largest town directly on the path aside from Prestatyn is today´s starting point and full of historical interest with lots of sites and buildings from medieval times. The path leaves Monmouth to follow the valley of River Trothy - a tributary to the Wye. This stage is characterised mainly by farmland and short views of the Dyke.
In addition to the original path you can expand the the tour to the Norman castles of Skenfrith, White and Grosmont, built in the 12th-century. This would add another day to your trail on Offa's Dyke.
