From Chepstow to Monmouth

On the first day you closely follow the River Wye for most of the time. However, in the middle of this day´s leg a division in two different paths, each of approx. 3.5 miles in length, is given where you can decide whether to follow the river or take the High Path in the line of the Dyke.

Offa´s Dyke begins on the cliffs atop the Severn. It then follows the Wye Valley, an area of astounding natural beauty, until you reach Monmouth, where you will leave the banks of River Wye the following day.

This is a rather long leg for the first day of the walk so break possibilities are available. There is a description of two circular walks and an inner city walk in Chepstow so you have a lot of possibilities to prepare your first two or three days in Wales to suit your wishes.
