From Bad Honnef to Königswinter

The Rheinsteig's 21st stage is quite hilly, leading you over the rounded hilltops of the Siebengebirge and through several deep cut valleys in between. An initial climb to the Himmerich and Wingstberg hilltops is followed by a small track, leading you down into the Ohbach valley.

Passing the Seven Mountains

Another steep climb to Löwenburg castle begins, and there are splendid distant views from the castle ruins, which are located a little above the Rheinsteig. The trail leads downhill again and passes Rhöndorf, where the German chancellor Konrad Adenauer used to live. There is a wonderful view of the Rhine Valley at a monument near Rhöndorf, before the last climb of the day begins.

A center of tourism at the Rhine: The Drachenfels

It leads to one of the Rhine's most popular and highly frequented tourist attractions, the famous Drachenfels hill with the ruins of a medieval castle and a viewing platform. On a last stretch downhill, the way passes the palace of Schloss Drachenburg and the nice Nachtigallental valley, before the stage ends at Königswinter, another centre of tourism at the Rhine.
