From Vallendar to the Sayn Palace

The Rheinsteig trail leaves the river behind for a while, taking a swerve to the hilly forestland of the Westerwald. It will return to the Rhine at the end of the 16th stage at Leutesdorf. The way passes the Meerbach valley, quickly taking you uphill to the historic Wüstenhof Inn.

Romans at your way

A varied route passes wooded valleys and nice hilly meadowland on the way to Sayn, where there is a reconstructed Roman watchtower at the Pulverberg hill. Uphill and downhill passages change, as the trail leads through the nice Brexbach valley, and finally to Sayn.

The Sayn Palace

On your way downhill you can enjoy a splendid panoramic view of the surrounding landscape at the medieval Sayn castle. The stage ends at the beautiful grounds of Sayn Palace.
