From the monastery of Eberbach to Johannisberg

During this stage, which is rather short, almost everything is centered around the wines and the wine growing of the Rheingau region. Directly after the start, the Rheinsteig trail passes Steinberg, which is Eberbach's best known vineyard location, enclosed by a 3 km long stone wall.

The castle of Vollrads

Passing woodland, meadows and lots of vineyards, the way runs along the hills above the Rhine and the wine-grower's villages of Hallgarten and Oestrich-Winkel. As on the previous day, the Rheinsteig trail repeatedly meets the "Rheingau Riesling Path”. Idyllically surrounded by vineyards, the palace of Schloss Vollrads is the next traditional place for Rheingau wines and invites you for a stop and a tasting.

The trail continues through the vineyards before the stage ends at the next famous wine palace. Schloss Johannisberg is a concert venue and attracts wine connoisseurs from home and abroad.
