From Spabrücken to Bingen
Passing Stromberg, the town of the German "Michel", and walking along the heights of the River Rhine for a while, you arrive at the end of your walk: the mouth of the Nahe at Bingen. "Der Deutsche Michel" is a symbolic figure, embodying the Germans in general. For some it is a rather boring or mediocre, nightcap-wearing dozy devil. For others it is the general Hans Michael Elias, born in Stromberg and being the personification of "typically German" virtues.
