Your walking path: Home  > Germany  > Hermann`s Walk  > Detmold / Bad Meinberg

From Detmold to Bad Meinberg/Velmerstot

This eighth and final leg is one of the Hermanns' Walk's most scenic ones. After the start, you walk mainly through open country or along the edge of the forest with lots of opportunity for great views. The imposing Externsteine rock formation is a poular destination for a weekend's outing and so can be busy.

If at all possible, do not to pass this spot on a sunny Sunday afternoon. At the end of the path the Hermanns' Walk passes the romantic Silberbach valley and leads you uphill to Velmerstot, the Teutoburg Forest's highest sandstone cliff. Here you have the opportunity for one final brillant view.
