Your walking path: Home  > Germany  > Franconia  > Weismain / Loffeld

From Weismain to Loffeld

The path now leaves Weismain and quickly takes you uphill to a plateau where it passes the saddle between the Großer Kordigast and the Kleiner Kordigast hills. There is a constant change of passages through woodland and through open countryside before after about halfway the Franconia Way passes a place of cultural importance - the former cloister of Klosterlangenheim.

Only a few buildings of this formerly mighty and impressive monastery are still in existence today. After passing the plateau of the Hoher Rangen the path reaches the famous basilika of Vierzehnheiligen. This church is one of the most important baroque buildings in the south of Germany and it is located a little away from the actual path.

A descent to the valley is followed by another climb to the hilltop of the Staffelberg where you have splendid views once more. This place is often quite busy with tourists but it is nevertheless a highlight of this attractive stage.
