Your walking path: Home  > Germany  > Franconia  > Köstenschmölz / Kronach

From Köstenschmölz to Kronach

On this third leg, the Franconia Way leaves the Franconian Forest behind and takes you to the River Rodach valley and onwards to the Kronach basin. Starting with an almost level path passing through woodlands and extended fields and meadowlands. The way continues along forestry roads and passes the villages of Oberehesberg and Mittelberg.

Here the Franconia Way becomes more hilly again taking you to the Radspitze hilltop where you can have distant views to the south from an observation tower.

The path passes two more hills - Markgräfliche Höhe and Hohe Warte - before more fields on your way down to the plain. Festung Rosenberg is a mighty fortified castle which you will pass before you reach the scenic old town of Kronach.
